Deciduous climber with slender branches and leaves, each formed of 12-19 leaflets. Best in summer when purple, mauve or white flowers are borne in long racemes.

STYLE : Suitable for informal upright, cascade and root-over-rock styles. 

WARNING : Pruning shoots too soon will retard flowering. Delay until essential but then prune hard.

Care Info

REPOT : Every 3-4 years as soon as flowers fade.

SOIL : Free draining soil : 40:60 grit:organic in a deep pot.

PRUNE : Prune out congested areas soon after flowering, leaving those shoots which are facing upwards and outwards.

PINCH : Trim to 2 leaves per shoot during growing season. This process will need to be repeated several times during the growing season.

WATER : Water lavishly in summer. Pot may be stood in shallow water during hotter periods.

FEED : Weekly low nitrogen feed from end of flowering through to autumn. Apply zero nitrogen feed just before leaf fall.
